Mardin-Turkey- Properties of the Syriac Orthodox community in Tur Abdin is returned to the Church. On 22nd May 2018, nearly fifty Syriac Orthodox churches, monasteries and cemeteries were returned to the Mor Gabriel Foundation.
According to the deed, monasteries, churches, and cemeteries are given back to its rightful owner. Syriac Orthodox community in Southeastern Mardin province welcomed the return of their properties by the government. Kuryakos Ergun – head of the Mor Gabriel foundation praised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and all those who toiled behind the transfer of church properties.
